15 NOJHLers invited to attend Ontario Summer Select Showcase
SUDBURY – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Tuesday that 15 of its players have been invited to attend the first-ever Ontario Summer Select Showcase, Aug. 10-11, at the Benson Complex in Cornwall.
All of the NOJHLers will be among a group of 80 in total representing some of the top 19 and under Junior A players from across the province who compete in the NOJHL, Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) and the Ontario Junior Hockey League. (OJHL)
Among those from the NOJHL taking part are 2012-13 league rookie of the year in goaltender Joel Horodziejczyk of the Soo Thunderbirds and top defensive forward recipient Brandon Bazinet of the Blind River Beavers.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for these players from the NOJHL as well as the other two competing leagues to further showcase their abilities against quality competition,” stated NOJHL Commissioner Robert Mazzuca.
“Anything we at the NOJHL can do to provide additional exposure for our players and help them advance to the next level is definitely something we strive for,” added Mazzuca.
The 80 players will be split into four teams that will take to the ice for practice sessions on the afternoon of Aug. 10 followed by a pair of games that evening.
The event then concludes the following day with four more games on the slate.
The partnership of the NOJHL, OJHL and CCHL to stage an event like this represents a continued effort to provide players with the best experience possible by maximizing exposure to higher levels and creating new opportunities for showcasing their skills.
A multitude of scouts from the NHL, NCAA, CIS and CHL is expected be in attendance to evaluate and identify players for the upcoming season.
