Soo Thunderbirds 2017 Spring Camp

It’s that time of year again!

A time to prepare for the upcoming hockey season.

This weekend, your NOJHL West Division champion Soo Thunderbirds will be holding their 2017 Spring Camp at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

The Soo Thunderbirds hockey club has developed players who went on to play in the Ontario Hockey League, including Boris Katchouk (Soo Greyhounds), Mario Culina (Windsor Spitfires), Owen Headrick (Erie Otters), Medric Mercier (Oshawa Generals), Darian Pilon (Sudbury Wolves), Drake Pilon (Sudbury Wolves), Nolan Makkonen (Guelph Storm) and Nic Sicoly (Guelph Storm).

One Thunderbird who has recently signed with an Ontario Hockey League team this offseason, was Keegan Stevenson (Guelph Storm) while Thunderbird graduate and current Soo Greyhound Boris Katchouk has recently signed a three year, entry level contract with the National Hockey League’s Tampa Bay Lightening.

Former Thunderbirds who are currently playing in the National Hockey League, include Jake Muzzin (Los Angeles Kings) and Colin Miller (Boston Bruins).

This year’s camp is open to any player born from 1997-2001, and a total of 35 players (both new and returning) have already registered for this weekend.

This will be a two day event, running from May 5th – 6th.

CAMP SCHEDULE

Friday, May 5th at John Rhodes (Rink 1)

5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. (Team Red vs Team Black)

Saturday, May 6th at John Rhodes (Rink 2)

8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. (Team practices and off ice training)

7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. (Team Red vs Team Black)
