Just over a month ago, the Soo Thunderbirds signed 16 year old forward Tyson Doucette for the upcoming season.
And today, it was announced that now his older brother Jacob will also be joining him in the orange and blue.
The Soo Thunderbirds have announced today that they have signed 2001 birth year defenceman Jacob Doucette.
Doucette, who turned 19 years old back on July 4th, spent the 2018-2019 season with the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Espanola Express, where he had 1 goal, 7 assists and a team-leading 87 penalty minutes in 53 regular season contests.
Prior to becoming a full time member with the Express, The Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario native spent the 2017-2018 season with the Great North Midget League’s Soo Greyhounds Major Midgets club, where he had 1 goal and 6 assists in 24 regular season games.
During the 2017-2018 season with the Major Midget Hounds, Doucette also played on the same team as current Soo Thunderbirds Parker Morgan, Kurtis Rogers, Avery Rebek, Cam Findlay and Caleb Wood.
Doucette, who stands 5’11 and weighs 175 pounds, also played 10 games as an affiliate player with the Espsnola Express in 2017-2018, where he recorded 2 assists.
His first two NOJHL points (assists) came in a 5-3 loss to the Soo Eagles back on February 23rd, 2018 at the Pullar Stadium in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
