With the Soo Thunderbirds preparing for their road game tonight in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan against the Soo Eagles, it was announced today that a new face will be joining the club.

The Soo Thunderbirds have announced that defenceman Rob Calisti will be joining the club after starting the 2017-2018 season with the Ontario Hockey League’s Soo Greyhounds.

Calisti, who was taken by the Greyhounds in the 3rd round (44th overall) during this year’s Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection, spent last season with the GTMMHL’s Toronto Nationals Minor Midget AAA club, where he had 5 goals and 20 points through 33 games.

He was also just one of six players to be named to the 2017 Gatorade OHL Cup All-Star Team.

The Toronto, Ontario native, who stands 5’9 and weighs 174 pounds, played 6 games with the Greyhounds this season and recorded 4 shots on goal before being assigned to the Thunderbirds.

The 2001 birth year defenceman is expected to make his debut with the Thunderbirds tonight in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan against the Soo Eagles.
