He spent last season with the Great North Midget League’s Soo Greyhounds Midget AAA club, but now he’s moving up to Junior A to join the Bird Nest.
The Soo Thunderbirds have announced today that they have signed 2004 birth year forward Tyson Doucette.
Doucette, who stands 5’5 and weighs 165 pounds, scored 2 goals and set up 11 others in 24 regular season games with the Midget AAA Hounds last season.
The 16 year old native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, also had the least penalty minutes on the Hounds last season with 6.
“Tyson has proven to us over the summer that he is ready to make the jump from Midget to Junior. His 200 foot game and his hockey IQ, including good on ice habits and decision making are solid attributes that will contribute to his continued success,” said Thunderbirds general manager Trev Zachary.
Prior to joining the Great North Midget League Hounds one season ago, the Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario native played the 2018-2019 season with the Soo Greyhounds U15 AAA club, where he had 9 goals and 22 points in 24 regular season games and helped the Hounds win the NOHL U15 championship.
He was also named the NOHL’s U15 Most Sportsmanlike Player.
