Gold Miners 12th, Thunderbirds 13th in Pointstreak CJHL Top 20 rankings

SUDBURY – The latest Canadian Junior Hockey League Pointstreak Top 20 rankings released Monday has the top two teams in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League listed back-to-back among the top teams in the country.

The Gold Miners were slotted 12th nationally while the Soo Thunderbirds were tabbed right after them in 13th spot in the rankings, which are compiled in conjunction with International Scouting Services.

Kirkland Lake and Sault Ste. Marie are in a battle for top spot overall in the NOJHL standings with just one point separating the two sides.

The 17-3-0-1 Gold Miners have a slim lead on the 16-2-0-2 Thunderbirds, who do however hold one game in hand.

The 2015 RBC Cup host Portage Terriers (MJHL) have moved back into the No. 1 ranking in the CJHL.

Rounding out the top three are the Carleton Place Canadian (CCHL) and Penticton Vees (BCHL).
