SUDBURY – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced today its regular season schedule for the 2014-15 campaign.

The 234-game slate begins Wednesday, Sept. 3 as the Sudbury Nickel Barons host the Mattawa Blackhawks in a 7 p.m. start at McClelland Arena in Copper Cliff.

One night later Mattawa travels to Cochrane to take on the newly minted Crunch who make their Tim Horton Event Centre debut at 7:30 p.m.

The expansion Powassan Voodoos will then take to the ice on Friday, Sept. 5 as they will be in Cochrane to tangle with the Crunch at 7:30 p.m.

A busy opening week for Mattawa continues that same night as they visit Kirkland Lake to meet the defending NOJHL champion Gold Miners at 7:30 p.m. at the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex.

Powassan continues a season-opening road swing Sept. 6 as they make their first-ever visit to Jus Jordan Arena in Iroquois Falls to meet the Abitibi Eskimos at 7:30 p.m.

Another new NOJHL franchise, in the Elliot Lake Wildcats, will play their first game in the league on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at Sudbury before making their home ice debut on Sept. 12 in a 7:30 p.m. start at Centennial Arena vs. Mattawa.

The Voodoos home opener at the Powassan Sportsplex goes Friday, Sept. 12 as they take on the Crunch at 7:30 p.m.

Long-time rivals the Soo Thunderbirds and Blind River Beavers will renew acquaintances Sunday, Sept. 14 in Sault Ste. Marie in the first regular season contest for each side.

The Blackhawks will play seven straight on the road before skating in their first home game of the season on Sept. 27 as they entertain Cochrane on Sept. 27 at Mike Rodden Arena.

Regular season play is scheduled to conclude on March 11 of 2015 as Sudbury hosts Elliot Lake.

All 234 games will be broadcast live via pay-per-view on FASTHockey on the NOJHL website at www.nojhl.com.

Each match-up will also be scored live online on the league website throughout the season.
