SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that forwards Jordan Mayo (Iroquois Falls Storm) and Wyatt Gibson (Blind River Beavers), along with defenceman Bryan Fenlon (Soo Thunderbirds), have been named its initial 3 Stars of the Week, to commence the 2024-25 season.
Jordan Mayo, (F) Iroquois Falls Storm: In his NOJHL debut Saturday, the 16-year-old from Kingston, Ont., registered four points helping Iroquois Falls down Kirkland Lake.
Included in his efforts was a natural hat trick in the second period, in a span of four minutes and 39 seconds, for his first three league tallies.
Each of Mayo’s markers came on the power play, while his third goal proved to be the game-winner, before later adding an assist in the final stanza.
Wyatt Gibson, (F) Blind River Beavers: The second-year forward was a key cog in each of the Beavers’ two victories over the weekend.
Hailing from Pelham, Ont., the 20-year-old Gibson scored once, then had the primary assist on the deciding effort in a victory Saturday.
He then tallied twice Sunday, for his initial two-goal game in league action, including collecting the eventual difference maker, in a triumph over Elliot Lake.
Bryan Fenlon, (D) Soo Thunderbirds: Solid at both ends of the ice, Fenlon helped the Thunderbirds go unbeaten as they went 1-0-1 to start the campaign.
Returning to his hometown of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., the 20-year-old blueliner doled out four assists in total, with a pair of two-helper nights.
He joins the T-Birds after splitting his time playing Jr. A last season with the Fredericton Red Wings (MHL) and Gatineau Flames (QJAAAHL).
