Pennsylvania Bound For Headrick

After 63 career NCAA games played, one former Soo Thunderbird has decided to suit up in the Ontario Hockey League.

Garden River, Ontario product Owen Headrick has made a commitment to the Erie Otters, the team who had selected him in the 14th round (261st overall) during the 2013 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.

“I decided to commit to the Erie Otters because it’s what I think would be best for my hockey career at this point and I’m excited to play for such a great organization,” said Headrick.

Back in September of 2014, Headrick had committed to play for the Lake State Lakers for the 2015-2016 season and after two seasons with them through 2015-2017, Headrick led all Laker defencemen in points back to back seasons.

“I loved my time at Lake State, I have made a lot of good friends and teammates during my time there and I can’t thank those people enough for that,” continued the Garden River product.

Headrick, who played two seasons with the Soo Thunderbirds from 2013-2015, tallied 12 goals and 44 points through 69 career games.

“My favourite memory with the Soo Thunderbirds was during my second year when we won the Dudley Hewitt Cup and it has helped give me some playoff experience,” concluded the 19 year old defenceman.
