Savvy is heading to the dog house!

The Soo Thunderbirds have announced on Thursday that forward Tyler Savard has signed with the Ontario Hockey League’s Soo Greyhounds for the upcoming season.

Savard, who was drafted by the Soo Greyhounds in 11th round (220th overall) back in 2019, spent one season with the NOJHL’s Soo Thunderbirds back in 2019-2020, where he finished second in team scoring with 19 goals and 50 points in 43 regular season games.

During the 2019-2020 season with the Thunderbirds, the Peterborough, Ontario native also scored two overtime goals, which tied the franchise record for most overtime goals by a Thunderbird player in a regular season.

If the last name Savard sounds familiar, it’s because Tyler is also the son of former Oshawa Generals star forward and former NHLer Marc Savard.

His father Marc (Savard), who played four seasons with the Oshawa Generals from 1993-1997, also had his number (27) retired by the Generals back on October 2, 2016.
