Status quo for Soo & Kirkland Lake in Pointstreak CJHL Top 20 rankings

SUDBURY – It remains status quo for the Soo Thunderbirds and Kirkland Lake Gold Miners in the latest Canadian Junior Hockey League Pointstreak Top 20 rankings released Monday.

The Thunderbirds were tabbed 10th and the Gold Miners 12th for a second consecutive week in the listings, which are compiled in conjunction with International Scouting Services.

Both clubs have been exceptional their past 15 contests with the Thunderbirds registering 27 out of a possible 30 points while the Gold Miners have picked up 26 of 30 points that were available.

Sault Ste. Marie sits in first place overall in the NOJHL standings with 34 points, two ahead of Kirkland Lake, who do hold one game in hand on the T-Birds.

There is a new No. 1 club in the CJHL this week as the Carleton Place Canadians (CCHL) has moved into the top spot in the country.

The Portage Terriers (MJHL) and the Penticton Vees (BCHL) were slotted second and third overall respectively.
