The Soo Thunderbirds are pleased to announce the signing of goaltender Connor Ryckman, formerly of the Newmarket Hurricanes of the OJHL.
Ryckman, 19, is playing his third season of junior hockey and was in the top 5 in both goals against average and save percentage for the Hurricanes of the OJHL this season.
The Minesing, Ontario product was a 14th round selection of the Barrie Colts back in 2012.
’I am very excited to join the team, it’s a fantastic opportunity! I will bring passion, discipline and work ethic to support the team in our efforts moving forward during the season.’
Thunderbirds General Manager Jamie Henderson provided this statement earlier today.
‘We are extremely excited to be able to acquire a goalie with Connor’s experience and abilities. He was highly regarded as one of the top goalies in the OJHL and along with rookie goalie Brandon Gordon will provide us with excellent goaltending as we push towards the playoffs.’
Ryckman will join his new teammates tonight as they face French River in the first game of a three game Northern road trip.
