T-Birds acquire Winn

By Matt Stefano

After picking up defenceman Jake Reed from the Chatham Maroons earlier in the day, the Soo Thunderbirds have picked up another blueliner on Saturday evening as they acquired left defenceman Mike Winn from the BCHL’s Prince George Spruce Kings in exchange for player development fee.

Through three games this year with Prince George, the Ann Arbor, Michigan native had no points.

Winn, who stands 6’2 and weighs 190 pounds, spent last season with the NOJHL’s Soo Eagles, scoring twice and setting up eleven others along with collecting forty two penalty minutes through thirty nine regular season games.

The 1996 birth year defenceman is the third American born player added to the T-Birds current roster, as he joins goaltender Brandon Gordon and defenceman Alec Allen.
