T-Birds Edge Eagles

Heading into Friday night’s action with a 7-1 record, the Soo Thunderbirds were in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan for a match up against the Soo Eagles.

It also marked the return of defenceman Andrew Barbeau, who was reaqcuired from the GOJHL’s Chatham Maroons on Monday.

Birthday boy Drake Pilon, who turned seventeen years old on Friday, led the way with a goal and an assist for the T-Birds in a 3-1 victory over the Eagles.

Matt Busby (power play) and Matt Mitchell had the other goals for the Soo, while Jake Behse, Jaren Bellini, Nathan Hebert, Caleb Boman and Brett Jeffries all recorded assists.

Ryan Morse’s power play goal was the only tally for the Eagles with assists going to Korey Muzzy and Dayton Honkanen.

Nathan Warren made thirty saves for the T-Birds victory, while Jack Hickey gave up three goals on forty three shots in goal for the Eagles.

The Thunderbirds return home on Saturday, October 3rd at 7:30 p.m. against the Soo Eagles at the Essar Centre.

Former Soo Thunderbirds forward Boris Katchouk was named first star of the game on Friday night for the Soo Greyhounds, scoring two goals and one assist in an 8-4 victory over the Guelph Storm. Kathocuk now leads the Greyhounds with four goals through three games played.
