T-Birds fall to Blind River

The Soo Thunderbirds came into this week ranked 17th in the CJHL top 20 weekly rankings and were winners of six straight.

On Thursday night, the T-Birds were at the Blind River Community Centre to take on the Blind River Beavers in their second meeting of the season.

The Beavers were also on a two game winning streak.

The T-Birds, who have not lost to Blind River since December 5th, 2015, when they were blanked 1-0, had their six game winning snapped on Thursday night as the fell 4-1 to the Beavers.

Overage forward Anthony Pullicino had a pair of goals for the Beavers while Zak Lambrecht also had a two point night with a pair of assists.

Mark Bastianello and Yianni Liarakos (power play) had a goal each for the Beavers while single assists went to Cole Peck, Dylan McMahon, Cooper Schroder and Vincent Robbins.

Mono, Ontario native Austin Kozluk had the lone goal for the T-Birds with assists going to Matt Caruso and Zach Senecal.

Myles Hektor made thirty three saves for the Beavers win while Brandon Gordon gave up four goals on twenty six shots for the T-Birds loss.

The T-Birds will visit Chelmsford Arena on Sunday, November 6th to take on the Rayside Balfour Canadians at 6:30 p.m.

NOTE:

Team NOJHL has announced their roster for the Eastern Canada Jr. A All-Star Challenge, which will take place from November 14-16 in Cornwall, Ontario.

Six members of the Soo Thunderbirds that will participate for Team NOJHL, include forwards Matt Caruso, Mark Tassone, Greg Smith, Zach Senecal and defencemen Wyatt Villalta and Jake Behse.
