With already 19 wins in their first 21 games this season, the Soo Thunderbirds were looking to pick up their 20th victory of 2015-2016 as they were in Blind River on Sunday afternoon to take on the Beavers. The T-Birds also faced defenseman Matt Murray for the first time after he was dealt to the Beavers after Remembrance Day.
The T-Birds grabbed win No. 20 on the season with a 7-2 crushing over the Blind River Beavers.
Nathan Hebert had a goal (power play) and two helpers while defenseman Caleb Boman also had a three point afternoon for the T-Birds with three assists. Darian Pilon and Matt Pinder each had a goal (power play) and an assist while overage forward and Mississauga, Ontario native Izaak Del Mastro recorded his first NOJHL multi goal game with two tallies. Joey Miller and Matt Caruso had a goal each while Matt Busby and Mark Tassone each chipped in with a pair of helpers. Single assists went to Ryan Mulligan, Matt Mitchell and Zach Senecal.
T-Birds goaltender Mario Culina made eighteen saves for the win.
Max Khull and Joel Fedeski led the way offensively for the Beavers with a pair of assists while Tyler Somers and Joseph Eben had the goals.
Beavers goaltender Martin Miloslavich gave up seven goals on fifty three shots.
The T-Birds will return home on November 25th vs the Blind River Beavers at 7:30 p.m. from the Essar Centre and can clinch the Provenzano Cup with a win over them.
