The first of June is here, and signing season has officially begun!

The Soo Thunderbirds have announced today on June 1st that they have signed 2005-birth-year defenceman Tyler Entwistle as a free agent

Entwistle, who is from Waterloo, Ontario, stands 6-feet tall and weighs 200 pounds.

“It’s exciting for our fans to begin a new unofficial hockey season today as the signing period opens up,” said Soo Thunderbirds assistant coach and general manager Jamie Henderson. “Tyler is an old-school player who plays an honest two-way game and he will be hard to play against in our league.”

During the 2022-2023 season, Entwistle split time with the Chatham Maroons and the Komoka Kings in the GOJHL, where he had no points and 48 penalty minutes in just 14 games played.

“I’m really happy to sign with the Soo Thunderbirds and it was an easy decision for me to sign with them after seeing the players they have developed over the years as well,” Entwistle said.

“My season last year in the GOJHL was a little shorter than I wanted it to be due to an injury, but with the games I played I thought it went very well and it was a great league to develop in.”
