With evaluation camp officially in the books, the Soo Thunderbirds Junior A club has signed 1999 birth year forward Mark Tassone.
The Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario native, who stands 5’9 and 187 pounds spent last season with the Soo Greyhounds Minor Midget AAA club leading them in scoring with 39 goals and 72 points through 67 games along with collecting 38 penalty minutes.
“Obviously Mark is a pretty young player with a lot of upside we feel,” said T-Birds general manager Jamie Henderson. “He’s a great kid off the ice and that was a big factor in signing him.”
“We’re excited where he can develop and the coaching staff could work with, develop him and as the season continues he is someone we can really see progress,” Henderson added. “It’s always exciting to see a local player with a lot of skill like that so we are excited to have him and he’s really excited to be a Soo Thunderbird.”
“It feels great to sign with such a great organization,” said Tassone. “I’m really happy to see what the future holds and it should be a great time this year.”
Tassone becomes the fourth player to sign with the Thunderbirds joining Brad Thrower, Matt Murray and Brandon Gordon.
