He played four games as an affiliate player with the Soo Thunderbirds back in the 2016-2017 season, but now he’s coming back as a full time member!
The Soo Thunderbirds have announced today that they acquired local forward Caleb Wood from the Soo Eagles in exchange for a player development fee.
Last season with the Eagles, the 2000 birth year forward scored 20 times and set up 15 others in 50 regular season games.
In his rookie season with the Eagles back in 2018-2019, the Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario native finished tied for first in team goals with 19 and set up 17 others in 55 regular season games.
He also led all NOJHL rookies in power play goals with 8.
Wood, who played 4 games as an affiliate player with the Soo Thunderbirds back in the 2016-2017 season, scored once and set up two others.
His one goal and two assists came in his NOJHL debut with the Thunderbirds back on November 16th, 2016 in a 6-2 victory over the Elliot Lake Wildcats at the Essar Centre (Now named the GFL Memorial Gardens).
He was also named First Star of the Game that night in his first career NOJHL game.
Wood, who stands 5’10 and weighs 170 pounds, was drafted in the 5th round (95th overall) by the Soo Greyhounds in the 2017 Ontario Hockey League Under 18 Priority Selection.
