SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. – The Soo Thunderbirds received shutout goaltending from Kolton Bourret and a pair of markers off the stick of Grayson Ebrahim to blank the Blind River Beavers 2-0 Friday in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League get together at John Rhodes Community Centre.

A nice flip pass, out of their own territory, saw a pair of Thunderbirds win the race down ice for the puck, with Jackson Truchan darting around the Beavers’ net and passing it in front to Ebrahim, who went top shelf on Blind River starter Iain Wintle at 15:44, for his 10th tally of the season.

The assist for Truchan saw him run a consecutive game point streak to nine.

It was more from Ebrahim deep into the second stanza as he tipped in a Candon O’Neill attempt who had moved in from the left point.

The third period saw the Soo hold firm defensively and had Bourret posting his second shutout of the season, while winning his sixth straight start, helping the T-Birds raise their record to 13-4-2-1.

With the loss, the Beavers fell to 13-7-0-0 on the campaign.
