Thunderbirds Get Young

By Matt Stefano

He played between the pipes last season in Sweden, but now he’s coming to the Soo to play in net for the Birds.

The Soo Thunderbirds have announced today that they have signed 2000 birth year goaltender Scott Young.

Young, who stands 6’5 and weighs 180 pounds, suited up for a pair of games last season in the J20 D.1 with the Kumla HC Black Bulls.

Prior to joining the Black Bulls, the Calgary, Alberta native spent the 2018-2019 season with the Calgary Royals Junior B hockey club, where he posted a 2.53 goals against average and a .905 save percentage in 17 regular season games.

In 2019, Young also helped the Royals win the CaIJHL championship.
