Thunderbirds take on Wildcats tonight at the John Rhodes

The Soo Thunderbirds are coming off a big 4-1 win over the Soo Eagles last night, and tonight they are right back in action as they take on the Elliot Lake Wildcats at the John Rhodes Community Centre at 7:00 p.m.

This will mark the fourth meeting between these two clubs.

GIVING UP GOALS

Heading into tonight’s game, the Elliot Lake Wildcats have given up the most goals against in the NOJHL, letting in 180.

SCARING THE CATS AWAY

In three meetings against the Wildcats this season, the Thunderbirds have won all three times and have outscored them 27-6 overall.

WATCH OUT FOR SMITTY

Thunderbirds co-captain Nick Smith has led the way offensively against the Wildcats so far this season, scoring five times and setting up five others.

MILESTONE FOR YOUNG

After heading into last night’s contest with 0 goals and 19 assists, Thunderbirds rookie defenceman Warner Young notched his first NOJHL goal against in last night’s 4-1 win over the Soo Eagles.

Young’s first NOJHL tally, came at the 5:29 mark of the first period, which opened the scoring for the Thunderbirds during last night’s game.

NO POWER

The Wildcats enter tonight’s game with the league’s worst power play, operating at 14.3%.

Co-captain Nick Smith leads the league with 4 shorthanded goals while rookie defenceman Tyler Dunbar sits first in shorthanded assists with 3.
