Thunderbirds trade Solomon to Wellington

The Soo Thunderbirds ended up making a second move before Monday’s 6:00 p.m. NOJHL trade deadline.

After trading second-year forward Tyson Doucette to the OJHL’s Aurora Tigers during Monday’s NOJHL trade deadline, the Soo Thunderbirds then made another move on that day as they traded rookie defenceman Creo Solomon to the GOJHL’s Wellington Dukes in exchange for a player development fee.

In 26 games played with the Thunderbirds this season, Solomon scored 5 goals, 10 assists and also led all Thunderbird blueliners in penalty minutes with 31.

“Creo came in this season and has been a great contributor,” said Soo Thunderbirds assistant coach and general manager Jamie Henderson. “He plays hard every night and we’ll certainly miss him, but we wish him well in Wellington.”

Solomon, who is also from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, will now join two other Saultites in Wellington who are currently playing for the Dukes, including Ethan Esposito and David Campbell.
