Thunderbirds vs Eagles Game Preview

Following a 4-1 victory over the Soo Eagles last night at the Pullar Stadium in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, the Soo Thunderbirds are returning to John Rhodes ice tonight at 7:30 p.m. for the second game of a home and home series against their cross border rivals.


In six meetings against the Eagles this season, the Thunderbirds have beaten them five times and have only lost to them once.

The Thunderbirds have outscored the Eagles 19-10 overall this season.

Thunderbirds top scorer Nick Smith has led the way offensively this season against the Eagles with 4 goals and 8 points.


Thunderbirds forward Nick Smith currently sits tied for first in league goals (29) with Soo Eagles forward Christian Bardarson while Thunderbirds goaltender and Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan product Brandon Gordon currently has the league’s lowest goals against average (1.90).


Newly acquired defenceman Braden King is expected to make his home debut with the Thunderbirds tonight at the John Rhodes.

King scored his first goal of the season in his first game played with the Thunderbirds last night in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.


Thunderbirds rookie forward and Saginaw Spirit prospect Camaryn Baber is riding a 7 game point streak.

To date, the 16 year old is currently second in team scoring with 10 goals and 33 points through 33 games.

He is also tied for first in team assists (23) with Thunderbirds top scorer Nick Smith and leads the team in penalty minutes (47).

The Sault Ste. Marie, product is also tied for first in team shorthanded goals (2) with captain Noah Solinger.
