Thunderbirds vs Lumberjacks Game Preview

The Soo Thunderbirds will kick off a two-game homestand tonight at 7:00 p.m., when they take on the Hearst Lumberjacks at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

This will be the Lumberjacks first and only visit to the Soo this season.

The Thunderbirds, who are entering tonight’s game sitting in second place in the West Division with a record of 11 wins and 3 losses, will take on a Lumberjacks team that has a record of 7 wins, 7 losses and 1 overtime loss.

The Lumberjacks are currently fifth in the NOJHL’s East Division.

Last season, the Lumberjacks won the regular season series against the Thunderbirds two games to one and have outscored them 8-6.

LEAGUE LEADERS

Heading into tonight’s game, Thunderbirds second year defenceman Steven Bellini currently leads all NOJHL blueliners in scoring with 4 goals and 16 points in 13 games.

BAZARIN PUTTING UP POINTS

This past Thursday, forward  Matthew Bazarin recorded his first career three-point game, scoring twice and setting up another in a 5-2 road win over Rayside.

Since coming over to the Thunderbirds from the Stouffville Spirit, the Roseneath, Ontario native has 2 goals and 4 assists in 7 games.

His four assists also tied his assist totals from a year ago.
