Van Tiem signs with Milwaukee School Of Engineering

The Soo Thunderbirds are proud to announce today that one of their graduating players is off to university.

Birmingham, Michigan native Spencer Van Tiem has signed with the Milwaukee School Of Engineering Raiders hockey club for the 2019-2020 season.

The 20 year old forward first signed with the Thunderbirds back on January 10th, 2018, and ended the 2017-2018 regular season with 6 goals and 5 assists in 20 games

During the 2018 postseason, Van Tiem also finished tied for second in team points (7) with teammates Kaidan McDonald and Nick Smith.

After being traded to the CCHL’s Kanata Lasers during the 2018 offseason, Van Tiem was then reacquired by the Thunderbirds in a trade with the Lasers back in December.

Van Tiem then finished the 2018-2019 season with the Thunderbirds, scoring 9 times and setting up 10 others in 26 regular season contests.

During the 2019 postseason, Van Tiem also finished third in team scoring with 16 points in 19 games to help lead the Thunderbirds to the NOJHL final for the first time since 2016.

The Soo Thunderbirds would like to wish Spence all the best with his schooling and his hockey.
