Jamie Henderson now has a job in the O!

The Ontario Hockey League’s Ottawa 67’s have announced on Friday that they have hired Soo Thunderbirds assistant coach and general manager Jamie Henderson as the club’s Northern Ontario Scout.

Henderson, who currently serves as the Thunderbirds assistant coach and general manager, is also the head coach of the Great North Under-18 Hockey League’s Soo Jr. Greyhounds.

“I am very appreciative to join the 67’s organization,” Henderson said. “With my roles with the Thunderbirds and the Under-18 Hounds, we are always looking for great young players who have the potential to make it to the next level and we’re excited for this new opportunity to do so with such a prestigious program.”

“The NOJHL and GNU18-League have helped produced countless players to the Ontario Hockey League and we’re going to continue to focus on developing young people on and off the ice. We also have a lot of programs around the north that are doing the same and that’s a great thing,” Henderson added.

The Ontario Hockey League’s Ottawa 67’s also have ties to Sault Ste. Marie, as they currently have Soo-born defenceman Jack Matier, and have also just hired former Soo Greyhounds head coach and general manager Dave Cameron as their new head coach.
