Thunderbirds graduate Andrew Gibson is on NHL Central Scouting Players to Watch List for October

Today, the National Hockey League has officially released its October Central Scouting Players To Watch List for the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, which will take place next June in Nashville, Tennessee, and one Soo Thunderbird graduate is on that list!

Soo Thunderbirds graduate and current Soo Greyhounds defenceman Andrew Gibson has received a ‘B’ rating on the October Central Scouting Players To Watch List, indicating that he can be a potential 2nd or 3rd round pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.

In 9 games played so far this season with the Soo Greyhounds, Gibson has 2 goals, 4 assists and 6 points, and also sits in a three-way-tie for first among all OHL rookie blueliners in scoring with Sam Dickinson (London Knights) and Anthony Cristoforo (Windsor Spitfires).

As a member of the Soo Thunderbirds last season (2021-2022), Gibson finished first in team goals with 21, and finished second in team points with 51 through 40 regular season games.

Gibson, who had 21 goals last season, also owns on the Soo Thunderbirds record for most goals by a defenceman during a regular season.

NOTE

Just a reminder to all fans that the Soo Thunderbirds will be in action tomorrow (Wednesday) night at 7:00 p.m., when they will take on the Elliot Lake Red Wings at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

The Thunderbirds are also entering tomorrow night’s game on a five-game winning streak.
