On Monday, it was announced that Soo Thunderbirds graduate and current Soo Greyhounds defenceman Andrew Gibson has been selected to participate in the 2023 Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, which will take place at the Langley Events Centre in Langley Township, British Columbia on January 25.
Gibson, who is currently in his draft year for the NHL, is currently leading all Soo Greyhound rookies in scoring this season with 5 goals and 10 points.
His 5 goals this season are also the most among all Soo Greyhound blueliners.
As a member of the Soo Thunderbirds last season, Gibson led the Thunderbirds in goals with 21 and finished second in team scoring with 51 points.
Gibson becomes just the third Soo Thunderbird graduate to be selected to the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, joining Patrick Jarrett (2002) and Boris Katchouk (2016).
