Tremblay signs with the T-Birds

The Soo Thunderbirds are adding another Saint!

It was announced on Tuesday that the Soo Thunderbirds have signed 2005-birth-year forward Emile Tremblay for the upcoming season.

Tremblay, who stands 5-foot-8 and weighs 160 pounds, spent last season with the CSSHL’s Mount Academy Saints Under-18 Prep team, where he tallied 3 goals and 2 assists in 10 regular season games.

“We are excited to welcome Émile and his family to the Thunderbirds,” said Soo Thunderbirds assistant coach and general manager Jamie Henderson. “Émile has a real passion for the game which comes across when you speak with him and when you watch film. He will join our young group here and it will be exciting to follow his development this year in his first season of junior hockey.”

“First of all I’d like to thank Jamie Henderson for signing me and giving me this beautiful opportunity,” Tremblay added. “I’m really excited to get on the ice and wear a T-Birds jersey and I can’t wait to meet the rest of the team.”

Last season on the Saints, Tremblay also played on the same team defenceman Cole Power, who just signed with the T-Birds back on June 2.

“Cole Power was my roommate last year and I quickly became really close to him,” Tremblay said. “He also became more like a brother to me as the season started coming to an end.”

“After last season I thought I would never see Cole again, but it feels great to know that I’ll be playing with him again this season on the T-Birds, and maybe he’ll be my roommate again this year in the Sault. I’m also very excited to start this new adventure with him.”

Tremblay, who was born in Quebec City, Quebec, becomes the third player out of Quebec to sign with the T-Birds during this offseason, joining Thomas Degagne and James Legler.

“Playing on the Saints last season has taught me a lot of things,” Tremblay said. “Last year we had a rough regular season, but then we came into the playoffs with a whole different mindset. We made it to the finals when nobody thought we could do it and that was the best part of my journey while being a Saint.”
