Shortly after acquiring defenceman Garrett Giertuga from the SIJHL champion Dryden Ice Dogs, the Soo Thunderbirds have added another defenceman to their roster.

The Thunderbirds have sent their top goal scorer Zach Senecal along with PDF to the Dudley Hewitt Cup champion Trenton Golden Hawks in exchange for 1997 birth year defenceman Andrew Cordssen-David.

The Montreal, Quebec native, who stands 6’5 and 209 lbs, began the 2016-2017 season with the BCHL’s Surrey Eagles, where he recorded 1 assist and 10 penalty minutes through just 5 games played, before finishing off with the OJHL’s Trenton Golden Hawks, where he had 5 goals and 23 points through 44 regular season games, along with 36 penalty minutes.

He also helped the Golden Hawks capture their second straight Dudley Hewitt Cup title.

Cordssen-David also played in 46 career games in the QMJHL from 2014-2016, splitting time with the Baie-Comeau Drakkar and Acadie-Bathurst Titan, scoring 3 goals and 4 assists.

In the 2015-2016 season, the 20 year old also played with the NOJHL’s Kirkland Lake Gold Miners, the team the Thunderbirds had swept in the 2016 NOJHL final, where he had 4 goals and 11 points through just 7 regular season games, before scoring 1 goal and 4 points through 10 playoff games.
