T-Birds sign Marlow

A fifth player from BC is coming over to the T-Birds!

The Soo Thunderbirds have announced on Sunday that they have signed 2002-birth-year forward and Cranbrook, British Columbia native Wyatt Marlow as a free agent.

“Wyatt has played in arguably the top two leagues in the country and we are excited to add his experience and his skill to our group,” said Soo Thunderbirds assistant coach and general manager Jamie Henderson.

Marlow, who stands 6-feet inches tall and weighs 188 pounds, played in 3 games this season with the MJHL’s Portage Terriers, where he tallied 1 goal and 1 assist.

Last season, the 2002-birth-year forward also split time with BCHL’s Merritt Centennials and the AJHL’s Sherwood Park Crusaders.

In a total of 23 games played last season, Marlow found the back of the net 3 times and set up 4 others.

“I’m really looking forward to being apart of the Soo Thunderbirds, and I’ve heard a lot of great things about the organization and the group of guys that they have,” Marlow said.

Five years ago, the Cranbrook, British Columbia was also drafted in the 10th round (217th overall) by the Swift Current Broncos in the 2017 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

“Getting drafted by the Swift Current Broncos was an exciting day for me and my family,” Marlow said. “It showed me that putting in the work gets you noticed and pays off, but even though I chose to go the junior A route, I still had a great experience at Swift Current’s Camp that year (2017) and it was an amazing welcome into the junior hockey world.”

With addition of Marlow, the T-Birds now have a total of five BC-born players on their roster, along with Ethan Raduy (Qualicum Beach), Dharan Cap (North Vancouver), Mitchell Daines (Trail) and Zachary Reddy (Vancouver).
