By Matt Stefano

He was only in the Soo for a short period of time, but he still ended his junior hockey career as a member of the Soo Thunderbirds.

Defenceman Jacob Boucha, who came over to the Thunderbirds in a trade with the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners back on January 8th, went on to record 3 assists and 22 penalty minutes in 17 regular season games as a member of the Thunderbirds.

The Northville, Michigan native began his NOJHL career with the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners in the 2019-2020 season, where he recorded 2 assists and 34 penalty minutes in 20 games with the Gold Miners.

Boucha recorded his first NOJHL point (assist) back on November 27th, 2017 in a 4-3 overtime win against the French River Rapids at the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex in Kirkland Lake.

The Northville, Michigan native made his debut with the Thunderbirds on January 8th in a home game against the Espanola Express at the John Rhodes Community Centre.

Boucha then recorded his first point (assist) in a Thunderbird uniform in just his second game played with the Soo on January 10th in an 11-3 victory over the Elliot Lake Wildcats at Centennial Arena in Elliot Lake.

As a member of the Thunderbirds, Boucha wore No. 28 on the back of his jersey.

During the 2019-2020 season, Boucha recorded a total of 5 assists and 56 penalty minutes in 37 games.

Boucha, who turned 21 years old back on January 24th, was also the oldest player in the NOJHL this season.
