Doucer is on the move.
The Soo Thunderbirds have announced on Monday that they have traded their leading goal scorer Tyson Doucette to the OJHL’s Aurora Tigers in exchange for a player development fee.
Doucette, who served as one of the Thunderbirds assistant captains this year, entered the holiday break as the club’s top goal scorer with 15 goals and was third in team points with 27.
During the 2021 portion of the season, the 17-year-old forward also led the Thunderbirds in power play tallies with 9.
“Tyson is a young player who was looking to move to the Ontario league,” said Soo Thunderbirds assistant coach and general manager Jamie Henderson. “He was a big part of our group and we wish him well in Aurora.”
In 43 career games played with the Soo Thunderbirds, Doucette found the back of the net 20 times and set up 18 others.
The Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario native was also the recipient of the Michael Doan Memorial Award as the Thunderbirds Most Improved Player for the 2020-2021 season.
