Gold Miners’ Erickson named Gongshow Gear player of the month
SUDBURY – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Wednesday that Kirkland Lake Gold Miners goaltender Josh Erickson has been named the Gongshow Gear Inc. player of the month for January.
In seven appearances last month, the 20-year-old Woodbury, Minn., product went unbeaten winning five times and earning two ties.
Erickson registered a stingy 1.88 goals-against average for the month along with a solid .925 save percentage.
Currently boasting the best record in the NOJHL at 18-2-2, the Kirkland Lake stopper also leads all netminders in both average and save percentage at 2.32 and .916 respectively.
For his efforts Erickson will receive a prize pack courtesy of Gongshow Gear, the official lifestyle hockey apparel of the NOJHL.
Also receiving consideration for the Gongshow Gear player of the month was forwards Brendan Locke (Abitibi Eskimos) and Steve Harland (Powassan Voodoos) along with defenceman Nathan Campbell (Elliot Lake Wildcats).
