Starting next season, Mars will be at Northland!

The Soo Thunderbirds have announced on Wednesday that graduating forward Wyatt “Mars” Marlow has committed to the Northland College Lumberjacks hockey club for the 2023-2024 season.

Northland College, which is located in Ashland, Wisconsin, is a private liberal arts college that has been around since 1892.

“We are excited for Wyatt and his family,” said Soo Thunderbirds assistant coach and general manager Jamie Henderson. “Northland has long been a great program for making the jump from our league and Wyatt has been a big part of our team since he arrived in the Soo last fall.”

In 49 games played this season with the T-Birds (Counting regular season and playoffs), Marlow has recorded 30 goals, 21 assists and 51 points.

“The reason why I thought that Northland College was the best choice for me, was because they make you feel at home right from the first phone call,” Marlow said. “From the coaches to the school counsellors, Northland College is a very well organized program and they have very easy people to approach whenever you have a question. Along with the school, their hockey team has some really big goals for the future and I’m looking forward to doing what I can do to help them reach those goals.”

Starting this fall at Northland, Marlow will also be taking the Environment Science program.

“I will be taking Environment Science because I love the outdoors and would like to further my knowledge on it,” Marlow said.
