SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that forward Jesse Dupuis (Blind River Beavers); defenceman Quinn Myles (Soo Thunderbirds) and goaltender Brodie Haylock (Iroquois Falls Storm) have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending January 7.
JESSE DUPUIS, (F) BLIND RIVER BEAVERS: Doing his part offensively for surging Blind River, the veteran forward chipped in with five points over the weekend to help the Beavers extend their current winning streak to 15 in a row.
The 20-year-old Iroquois Falls product tallied twice and assisted on the game-winner in a triumph over Elliot Lake Friday, then dished out two helpers, featuring one on the decider, in a home ice victory against the Soo Eagles Saturday.
Presently tied for seventh in NOJHL scoring with 47, points, Dupuis has appeared in 145 league contests in his career, collecting 120 points along the way.
QUINN MYLES, (D) SOO THUNDERBIRDS: Helping bolster the Thunderbirds defensive corps, Myles has been solid at both ends of the ice for Sault Ste. Marie, since his arrival last month.
Hailing from North Vancouver, B.C., the 20-year-old blueliner made some nice moves to set-up the game-winner, on the road in overtime, versus the rival Soo Eagles Friday then scored once, and assisted on two more in a triumph over Elliot Lake the following evening.
Myles is averaging just over a point-per-game after having joined the T-Birds, and has seven alone in his previous three contests.
BRODIE HAYLOCK, (G) IROQUOIS FALLS STORM: Shining in his first start of 2024, Haylock was spotless.
The 19-year-old netminder from Coquitlam, B.C., turned aside all 39 shots he faced Saturday to post his initial NOJHL shutout in blanking Kirkland Lake at Jus Jordan Arena.
Having come away victorious in his past two appearances, Haylock has stopped 65 of the past 67 attempts he’s faced to raise his save percentage in league play for the Storm to .916.
