Ethan Novello is still eligible to play one more season with the Soo Thunderbirds, but starting next season, he will be playing with a different Sault team.

The Soo Thunderbirds have announced on Wednesday that twenty-year-old forward Ethan Novello has committed to play for the Sault College Cougars hockey club for the 2023-2024 season.

“We are happy to see Ethan join a great program they have built at Sault College,” said Soo Thunderbirds assistant coach and general manager Jamie Henderson. “Ethan has always brought a great attitude to the rink and was very popular in the dressing room, so we’re definitely going to miss him and his energy next season.”

In 104 career games played with the Soo Thunderbirds from 2020-2023, Novello had 14 goals, 21 assists and 68 penalty minutes.

Novello, who will be starting his third-year as a student at Sault College this fall, will also be in his third-year studying Police Foundations.

“I’m very excited to play for the Cougars next season and I want to help them work towards their goal of winning a national championship,” Novello said.
