Another American-born forward is coming over to the T-Birds!
The Soo Thunderbirds have announced on Saturday that they have signed forward and Easton, Maryland native Connor Stokes as a free agent.
Stokes, who is a 2005-birth-year forward, spent last season with the South Kent School U18 AAA club, where he tallied 2 goals and 12 points in 52 regular season games.
Prior to signing with the T-Birds as a free agent, Stokes played one exhibition game this summer with the AJHL’s Olds Grizzlys.
“I am very excited to be joining a team that is so focused on development and one that has a winning history within Junior A hockey” said Stokes, who stands 5-foot-11 and weighs 175 pounds.
“I’m looking forward to getting started with the T-Birds soon.”
With the addition of Stokes, the T-Birds now have two American-born forwards on this year’s team, along with Farmington Hills, Michigan native Jackson Truchan.
“Connor is a young player who will really add to our group,” said Soo Thunderbirds assistant coach and general manager Jamie Henderson. “He was a captain for three seasons and he made a great impression in his time with Olds in the AJHL. We are excited to have Connor here in the Soo and to have him join our program.”
