A player from the Windy City is joining the Bird nest!
The Soo Thunderbirds have announced today that they have acquired 2001-birth-year forward Alfred Rotiroti from the MJAHL’s Yarmouth Mariners in exchange for a player development fee.
Rotiroti, who just turned 20-years-old back on September 3, stands 5’11 and weighs 179 pounds.
“We are excited to welcome Alfred and his family to our organization,” said Soo Thunderbirds assistant coach and general manager Jamie Henderson. “Alfred will certainly bring a high compete to our group and he’s an excellent skater who plays both sides of the puck.”
In ten games played this season with the Mariners, Rotiroti tallied 1 goal and set up 5 others.
“I’m really excited to join the Thunderbirds and I can’t wait to meet all the guys,” Rotiroti said. “It should be a great experience and I can’t wait to get things rolling.”
Rotiroti, who is from Chicago, Illinois, will be making his debut with the Thunderbirds in their home game tonight against the Espanola Express at the John Rhodes.
“I plan to bring tenacity and work ethic to the team, in all areas,” Rotiroti said. “The goal is to win and that stems from being gritty and winning your battles throughout the ice.”
