By Matt Stefano

Three weeks ago on September 24th, the Soo Thunderbirds signed goaltender and Calgary, Alberta native Scott Young out of Sweden, and yesterday on October 15th, they added another netminder by signing Alex Bugeja.

Bugeja, who is a 2001 birth year netminder, spent last season with the Superior International Junior Hockey League’s Fort Frances Lakers, where he had 10 wins, 14 losses, 2 overtime losses, 1 shootout loss and 1 shutout through 28 regular season games.

He also had a 3.80 goals against average and a .901 save percentage.

The West Vancouver, British Columbia native stands 5’10 and weighs 192 pounds.

“We’re excited to add Alex to our roster. He’s a very good goalie whose focus and work ethic has enabled him to play at the next level,” said Thunderbirds general manager Trev Zachary.
