Dunbar is hitting the ice in Denver!

After competing his second full season with the USHL’s Muskegon Lumberjacks this past season, former Soo Thunderbird and current Muskegon Lumberjacks defenceman Tyler Dunbar has been invited to attend this year’s Colorado Avalanche Development Camp.

This past season with the Lumberjacks, Dunbar found the back of the net 4 times and set up 21 others along with collecting 53 penalty minutes in 61 regular season games.

The 18-year-old blueliner then recorded 2 assists in 9 playoff games with the Lumberjacks during the 2022 postseason.

Dunbar, who is from Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, also played in 35 career games with the Soo Thunderbirds from 2018-2020, where he recorded 5 goals and 25 assists.

Dunbar also played with the Great North Under-18 Hockey League’s Soo Thunderbirds Minor AAA club back in the 2018-2019 season, where he was coached under current Soo Thunderbirds assistant coach and general manager Jamie Henderson.

Following his season with the Minor AAA Thunderbirds, Dunbar then went on to be drafted 44th overall by the Flint Firebirds in the 2019 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.
