NOJHL edged 3-2 by OJHL North-East at Central Canada Cup Challenge

TERREBONNE, Que. – A pair of final period goals allowed the Ontario Junior Hockey League North-East squad to rally for a 3-2 victory over the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League Selects Saturday evening at the Central Canada Cup Challenge showcase in Terrebonne, Que.

For the third time in four outings the NOJHL took the early lead with Gavin Burbach (Soo Thunderbirds) finishing off the work of Blake Peavey (Espanola Rivermen) at 6:36 of the opening session.

Taylor Best then tied it midway through the stanza only to see Peavey put the NOJHL back on top in the late going.

Dylan Rosen (Kirkland Lake Gold Miners) picked up the lone assist on the play.

The OJHL pulled even with 9:09 to go courtesy of Jake Emilio and then won it at 16:36 on a tally by Brett Seney.

Nathan Perry made 19 saves to register the win while Evan Cormier (North Bay Trappers) faced 22 shots in a losing cause.

Peavey earned the player of the game nod for the NOJHL with Perry doing likewise for his team.

The NOJHL will conclude play in the Central Canada Cup Challenge Sunday at 11 a.m. when they take on the OJHL’s South-West side.
