T-Birds trade Joseph to Trenton

Joe is on the go.

The Soo Thunderbirds have announced on Monday that they have traded defenceman Ranon “Joe” Joseph to the OJHL’s Trenton Golden Hawks in exchange for a player development fee.

Joseph, who just turned 20-years-old on back on May 25, played in 14 games with the T-Birds last season, where he scored 4 times and set up 19 others.

Last season, Joseph also went on 10-game point-scoring streak, which lasted from January 6 – February 3.

His 10-game point-scoring streak was also the longest among all NOJHL blueliners.

“We wish Ranon well next season with his new team in Trenton,” said Soo Thunderbirds assistant coach and general manager Jamie Henderson. “Trenton has a great program and Ranon will hopefully continue to showcase his many talents with them.”

“I’m excited to see what awaits in Trenton and I’d like to thank God for this opportunity,” Joseph added. “Derek Smith and his team staff seem like the right group of coaches to better my game and push for that championship type of team.”

“I also has a blast in the Soo last season playing for the T-Birds and I’m going to miss the boys and coming to the rink everyday to grind. CJ and Hendo treated the boys and I great and I can’t thank them enough for everything they did for us. It was also an amazing season even though it was a heartbreaking loss in the finals but I loved every minute of it, and I’d like to conclude my time in the Soo by saying – TBOT!”
