Thunderbirds begin 2023-2024 regular season on September 8

Another season of T-Bird hockey is just over ten weeks away!

The Soo Thunderbirds will officially kick off their 2023-2024 regular season on Friday, September 8 against their cross-border rivals the Soo Eagles at the John Rhodes Community Centre, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The 2023-2024 season will also be the Thunderbirds 25th season in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League.

This season, the T-Birds will play a total of 28 games at home (All at the John Rhodes) and another 28 games on the road.

They will also play another two at the 2023 NOJHL Showcase, which will run from October 3-4 at the Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex in Sudbury.

LATE AFTERNOONS

This season, the T-Birds will play a total of five afternoon home games, which will all be 4:00 p.m. starts.

Their five 4:00 p.m. home games this season will take place on Sunday, September 24 vs Powassan, Sunday, November 19 vs Espanola, Sunday, December 3 vs Soo Eagles, Sunday, December 10 vs Elliot Lake and Sunday, March 10 vs Hearst.

– Saturday, September 23, 2023 vs Iroquois Falls Storm (Iroquois Falls first visit to the Soo since relocating from Cochrane)
– Saturday, October 28, 2023 vs Timmins Rock (Timmins first visit to the Soo since defeating the T-Birds in the 2023 NOJHL final)
– Friday, November 3, 2023 vs Blind River Beavers (Blind River’s first visit to the Soo since the T-Birds eliminated them in the 2023 NOJHL West Division semifinal)
– Saturday, November 11, 2023 vs Greater Sudbury Cubs (Greater Sudbury’s first visit to the Soo since the T-Birds eliminated them in the 2023 NOJHL West Division final)
– Friday, December 15, 2023 vs Blind River Beavers (Final home game before the Christmas break and the new year)
– Saturday, January 6, 2023 vs Elliot Lake Red Wings (First home game of the year 2024)
– Sunday, March 10, 2024 vs Hearst Lumberjacks (Final home game of the regular season)
