Thunderbirds Acquire Williams

The Soo Thunderbirds have announced today that they have acquired 2001 birth year forward Ryan Williams from the CCHL2’s Richmond Royals in exchange for a player development fee.

Williams, who comes from Edmonton, Alberta, played with three teams during the 2019-2020 season, including the Cochrane Crunch, Elliot Lake Wildcats and Richmond Royals.

The 2001 birth year forward began the 2019-2020 season with the NOJHL’s Cochrane Crunch, where he had 1 goal and 2 penalty minutes in 4 games, before being traded to the Elliot Lake Wildcats, where he then recorded 1 assist and 2 penalty minutes in 9 games.

Williams, who ended up being traded from the Wildcats to the Royals back on November 16th, 2019, went on to score 4 goals, 6 points and 35 penalty minutes in 15 games during his time in Richmond.

He was also selected in the 11th round (118th overall) by the Hawkesbury Hawks in the 2016 CCHL Bantam Protected Draft.

The Edmonton, Alberta native stands 5’11 and 165 lbs.
