After dropping a 4-2 decision to the defending NOJHL champion Hearst Lumberjacks on Friday night in Hearst, the Soo Thunderbirds were in Cochrane on Saturday night for their second game of their three-game road trip.
Despite outshooting the Crunch 39-30 overall, the Thunderbirds fell by a score of 2-1 to them at the Tim Horton Event Centre.
Nicholas Grandy led the way offensively for the Crunch with a pair of assists.
Stephen Minichiello (power play) and Kobe Barrette had the goals for the Crunch while Alan Yu and Matthew Minichiello had an assist each.
Jacob Kovacs had the lone goal for the Thunderbirds while Matthew Bazarin picked up the only assist.
Thunderbirds netminder Dakota Meyer gave up 2 goals on 30 shots in the loss while Crunch goaltender Cody Levesque made 38 stops for the victory.
The Thunderbirds will now wrap up their three-game road trip on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., when they visit Timmins to take on the Rock at McIntyre Arena.
