The Soo Thunderbirds have announced on Tuesday that they have traded 2004-birth-year goaltender Noah Metivier to the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Lindsay Muskies in exchange for a player development fee.

“We are happy to give Noah the opportunity to play in the Ontario Junior Hockey League next season,” said Soo Thunderbirds assistant coach and general manager Jamie Henderson. “Noah was sensational for us this past season and we hope he continues his great play next season.”

Metivier, who is a native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, spent the 2021-2022 season with his hometown Soo Thunderbirds, where he recorded 20 wins, 3 losses, 2 overtime losses, 2 shootout losses snd 6 shutouts.

The 18-year-old was also the recipient of the Wayne Chase Memorial Award for having the lowest goals against average (1.88) among all NOJHL goaltenders during the regular season.

During the 2022 postseason, Metivier then recorded 8 wins, 1 loss, 1 overtime loss and 1 shutout, before being named the 2022 NOJHL Playoff MVP.

“It feels great to get a chance to showcase my skills and energy in a different place, but I will never forget the season I had with the guys in the Soo,” Metiver said. “I’m looking forward to meeting my new teammates and I can’t wait to get the season  started as a Muskie.”
